Ji Duma philosophy
Ji Duma’s mission is to work in a collaborative manner
with villagers to improve the quality of their lives. Loriana Dembélé,
the Italian Consul to Mali, is the president and founder of the organization.
We are small but effect big change. Skill transfer, local business and
small financial commitments can produce significant results in an impoverished
Africa. This approach characterizes the Ji Duma way.
Within one to three months, the tangible results of our small scale projects
are visible. We build basic infrastructure for necessities like local
business, wells, irrigation systems and solar power technology in collaboration
with local Africans. Technology and skills are then transferred to them
so members of the community have the ability to operate and maintain the
projects.
We periodically follow up on all endeavors to assure their continued success
into the future.
To accomplish all of this, we cut the bureaucratic practices of larger
aid organizations. We reduce our overhead by working only in small, experienced
teams. We are absolutely accountable for every penny donated and spent
in this process.
We strive to reverse the cycle of 50+ years of disappointing development
practices in Africa.
Ji Duma’s approach is the most effective way to fight massive poverty
in Africa: Teach them to do it for themselves and give them the tools
to make a better life their reality.
